A quiet room, an old amplifier, the sound of a valley outside the window.

Songs written for the book, improvisations from long nights, and unedited recordings of the places that made them.

Music is a way of listening that leaves a trace. Some of what's here I recorded alone in a room. Some was captured with a small microphone in the valley itself — the rain on the tarp, the wind moving through the trees at 4 a.m.
